When faced with an urgent need to increase building capacity and unlock new commercial use, one UK public trust made a decision most organisations wouldn’t dare:
They didn’t upgrade their mechanical ventilation system.
They replaced it.
And they did so with AirPurity’s AeroTitan system, the only technology in the world proven to manage and control air within a space to the level that mechanical ventilation becomes optional.
This is not an incremental improvement.
It’s a paradigm shift.
Background
A strategically located corporate facility was originally designed to host up to 60 people, based on legacy ventilation capacity. However, with growing demand for in-house use and plans to rent out the venue commercially, the trust needed to increase occupancy to 100 without compromising safety, air quality, or compliance.
Initial assessments made one thing clear:
Upgrading the mechanical ventilation system would cost in excess of £2 million, and require major building works and weeks of operational disruption.
For a public body with budgetary constraints and a responsibility to protect day-to-day function, this was simply not viable.
The Decision to Do Things Differently
Rather than compromise on capacity, delay the project, or commit to unsustainable capital works, the trust sought an alternative. They engaged AirPurity, the only company globally capable of substituting mechanical ventilation with an advanced, in-room environmental air management system.
What followed was a carefully engineered process:
- Initial site visit & feasibility analysis
- Indoor air quality (IAQ) baseline monitoring
- Aerosol movement mapping using our precision AeroSentinel, sophisticated IAQ sensor
- Design and placement planning based on actual spatial dynamics
- Installation and commissioning of AeroTitan units
Total time from first visit to completion? Under 12 weeks.
Total time on-site for installation? Under 2 hours.
Operational disruption? Zero.
Results
The results were not just impressive — they were transformative:
Metric | Before (Ventilation Only) | After (AeroTitan Installed) |
Occupancy Capacity | 60 People | 100 People |
Effective Airflow | ~60 L/s | 150+ L/s |
CO₂ Levels | Higher average readings | Significantly reduced |
Particulates (PM2.5/PM10) | Elevated in periods of use | Reduced across monitored periods |
VOCs | Detected | Reduced or eliminated |
Energy Efficiency | Dependent on conditioned fresh air | Lower operational load via recirculated treated air |
Importantly, the system doesn’t just increase airflow.
The AeroTitan actively manages the air within the space, using high-efficiency filtration and disinfection technologies to remove aerosols, particulates, pathogens, and pollutants without relying on high-volume fresh air intake.
This means the building can retain and recirculate heated or cooled air, reducing reliance on HVAC plant and cutting energy use and emissions.
Why This Matters
There are few technologies, in any industry, that can credibly replace traditional infrastructure. The AeroTitan is one of them.
Until now, replacing mechanical ventilation was considered unachievable.
Now, it’s not only possible — it’s practical, proven, and within reach of organisations that can’t justify seven-figure upgrades.
This case shows what’s possible when a client is brave enough to question the status quo, and when a solution is robust enough to deliver, not just in theory, but in live, high-stakes environments.
“The client made a bold choice. And they were right to do so. We’re incredibly proud to have delivered a result that not only solved the problem but redefined what’s possible.”

A New Era in Environmental Air Management
At AirPurity, we believe that clean, healthy air shouldn’t be a luxury and achieving it shouldn’t require tearing buildings apart. This project proves that modern air management can replace traditional infrastructure at a fraction of the cost, in a fraction of the time.
No one else can do this. That’s why they chose us.
